On February 22nd, my friend Cary Norton flew out from Birmingham to meet me on the West Coast. We traveled together for just shy of two weeks of the Song Diary tour, from San Francisco to Seattle, where he documented the shows I played and my process of writing and recording a song every day. It amazes me that these photos, for all their dynamism, capture only a short two weeks of the fifty-two weeks of The Song Diary. That of the 152 cities and 365 songs over the course of the year, there would only be photos from 13. Cary joined several other old friends of mine from across the country in flying to greet me in Washington DC on Tax Day. His photos from that last day chronicle our tour of The White House that afternoon and the performance that evening - the last couple hours of a long little year.
