SUNDAY PRAYER, cxxxvi
time & time again,
cornered by climes and clouds, the world
becomes a closed down county fair
as winter sells her wares
in the failing light of day
there is a promise that is made
that you will wear like a heavy coat
of dead raccoons and poems
you never wrote
time & time again, amen,
your needle rays of sunlight sewing
secrets saved not worth the knowing,
signs in the showing, rivers in the rowing,
blowing up balloons with lazy Suze
all the live long afternoon
for six dollars an hour. a prayer for perhaps,
as opportunity knocks, destiny,
on the other hand,
ever-so-lightly,
taps.
cause you're a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
