SUNDAY PRAYER, cxliii
time & time again, the den,
filled to the gills with books
the grey's anatomy my dad blankly
leafs through when he's mad at me
and the sunroom where my mother sits
and knits, patient as the pits of peaches
reaches for the phone that rings
the simple song it only sings
i am, i am
time & time again
i call her only when i'm lonely
as a fox. when the little box
my life is in is spinning in the wind
she listens like a peach
and when i'm through, she teaches me
when the doors of the world seem shut to you
my little star, no matter what,
you are, you are
you are a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
