SUNDAY PRAYER, clix
time & time again
if only once in a hundred years
a man will halve the distance
between himself and his missus
how long will he wait?
at that painstaking gait
with his hands screwed into
the pockets of his sockets of his pockets
i am i am
time & time again
i said i don't know the answer
i don't know where the cancer is
and even if i did somehow
i lack the will to cut it out
and yet i walk in hopeful halves
that after a thousand million years or more
i'll have what all the tears we shed were for
but you're a birthday,
deep with the dayshine
dusk to a moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
