SUNDAY PRAYER, clxv
time & time again
who knows an anthem they would stand for?
if it hurts to hold on, where is
the midas for that arthritis
of the soul. within us all the wonder
all the glimmers of the world
shimmer only in the unfurling
embers of remembering a girl i am i am
time & time again
but i tread lightly on those waters now
cuz it's easier climbing up than down
so thin the branch that crowns a tree
it could never hold me.
who could ever truly know me?
i am a mirror facing a mirror
a shoot of star disappearing i am i am
but you're a birthday,
deep with the dayshine
dusk to a moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
