SUNDAY PRAYER, clxvii

time & time again

the summer comes, a flower in a glass

a half-pretty doomed womb

of cartoon joy and love ploys

o loverboy! their rubic's cubes

are so eager to be solved by you

their mountains birthing mountains

hanging from your bitter fountain i am i am

firing blanks at the moon

time & sublime time again

with candied teeth a gray red

fed a thousand wines, dining good old death

who pulls the petals from the flower

who checks off all cities, all sins

til she's shaved thin the rose's neck,

and bids me sign & date the granite check

but you're a birthday,

deep with the dayshine

dusk to a moonbreak,

the dust of keepsakes

time & time again, i am i am
