SUNDAY PRAYER, clxxv
time & time again
she was a waterbirth.
she swam through the lava lamp
of her suburb into my suburb.
wrestling with her mind
the whole time as she went
swimming through the sunny sap
of her crappy suburb
into mine
time & time again
she dreams underwater
& when she wakes up it is raining
water chains, the ocean's daughters
to her left, the savior
bellyflopped on the countertop
& to her right, the window
and the world. sometimes she loves
being a girl.
but you're a birthday,
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
