SUNDAY PRAYER, ccvii
time & time again
the view at 70 miles an hour
the fence and trees and prairies blur
a run-on sentence of mumbled color
is the world, so fervent a compliment
that it can be hard to take
when for all our princely skin
we are covered in bacteria
i am
time & time again
the hiss of tv light, the bathroom fan,
the ceiling white, the toilet ran
maze of blood & heavy shore
i let you in a little more
to drag against my aching sand.
a hand to cross the eyes out
a cloud to cross the sky out
i am i am
you're a birthday,
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
