SUNDAY PRAYER, ccxii
time & time again
when i wake up, in swirling shoals
of imaginary moons
whose infinite IQ shines
into my home of bone & blood,
of masks of mud, in aviaries
of the brain, of sassafras & sage
& spiral chambers of the heart
the sun an endless ball of yarn
at rest in a light blue dress
the unseen seamstress girl
who every morning weaves the world
and me, & every one of us,
emerging from this master's touch
birds & butterflies in flight
emerging from the master's mind
i am, i am.
but you are a birthday,
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
