SUNDAY PRAYER, cclxvi
time & time again
laying beneath the grand piano there
at grandma's house on mother's day
the adults had wine and the kids had cake
each becoming reefs of reaching arms
with little concept then of death
but you well knew harm, the feeling of farness
from joy, you were the human bell jar
time & time again
will steal quietly your eras away
like the yoke drained slowly from an egg
by needle of sleep, of class, of work
needle of long relationships to jerks
there is a mural i've seen called "destiny"
where three girls arrange word magnets on a fridge
filled with void and stars and planets
you are a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
