SUNDAY PRAYER, cclxxxvi
time & time again
it's a gas, let me tell you
listening to my parents argue
same show every time, just a different venue
witch walks up to snow white with an apple
says, "honey, i brought you a treat"
white grabs it and eats it and says, "cheers grams,
after moving in with seven guys, i could use a little sleep."
and time & time again like that
the devil paid me a little visit too
he knew i had my own little demons to escape from
and happily whatever plate she handed me i ate from
like an insect living in the tall church walls
in the antiseptic morning light the herd crawls
over the herd to get further to the front
some would rather be the hunted than the hunter in the hunt
i am
but you're a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
das - little egypt, u.s.a.
