SUNDAY PRAYER, ccxciv
time & time again, old friend
look at what the light did then
when it seemed our roads had straightened
it was just their way of makin a curve
we couldn't see, and all that's behind
is again ahead of me in the vee
in the drifting constellation of geese
but city ducks don't leave
because great lakes don't freeze
at the six corners in our minds a sermon
do revealing clothes obscure them?
can placebos of holy joes cure them?
of the body, regifted gift of gifts
boys get the gun, girls get the bullets
for cops & robbers in the metal forest
old friend, look at what the light did then
you are a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
