SUNDAY PRAYER, ccxcv
time & time again,
in his own home a man walks
unclothed like a charge on a wire
roaming like an echo in the astrodome.
he lays on his weary kitchen floor
giving an empty look at a sideways door
to get to me i will have to go through you
again i must paint myself with the glue
of people. and culture.
again i must feed the vulture
we alone are the boulders we must bend
our bones against til the book ends
we are candles looking for a chandelier
we are mountains searching for mountaineers
we are words searching for a poem
about a man who walks unclothed
in his own home.
you are a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
