SUNDAY PRAYER, ccxcvii
time & time again,
regarding the search for life on other planets
it has an appeal, it makes sense.
like searching for where your parents hid the presents
in the days leading up to christmas
searching closets, searching under beds
and finding them with a mix of delight and dread
like boats barely made out in the distant mists
on the shrunken waters of the subconscious
what have we caught there? what have we seen?
under anesthesia of winter and sunbeams
as often as warm weather melts those dreams
i have seen cold weather freeze folks together
which ends their search for life on earth
at one another, time & time again
once more unto the breach dear friends
i am
you are a birthday
deep with the dayshine
from dusk to moonbreak
the dust of keepsakes
time & time again, i am i am
